Ear We Are!

Very windy drive today through snow showers with patches of snow in the ditches along the road. We have seen lots of pheasants the last three days as we pass through Ia., Mn., and now South Dakota. It's interesting to see the agricultural changes from corn and grain in Iowa to grain and chickens in Minnesota to Angus cattle in South Dakota.

We passed several very active ethanol plants in Iowa and Mn. before staying for the night on free full hookups at the county fairgrounds in Blue Earth, Mn.

There is a large Jolly Green Giant processing plant here with tours beginning in July and lasting through the summer as the peas and corn are harvested. Yesterdays drive through South Dakota took us to the Corn Palace in Mitchel.

Each year a new theme is chosen and over one half-million carefully chosen ears of corn are nailed to the building to create an a-maize-ing display. This all began in 1892 and the building is host to shows, proms, graduations, and basketball games. We ended the day just West of Rapid City after a brief stop at Wall Drugs.
