Ho To The Klondike!

Once the major Klondike gateway, where tens of thousands of fortune-seeking prospectors piled off steamships eager to head overland to the Yukon gold fields, Skagway still boasts many historic Gold Rush buildings. The historic district has been restored to the late 1890s atmosphere.

Our Park Service tour guide explained the hardships of hauling the required one ton of goods per man over the Chilkoot and White Pass Trails to the gold fields and took us to the house of Capt. William Moore, the founder of Skagway.

There's still a place where the past lives on, where the sound of barroom pianos and boom town crowds ring out in the night. A place where the romance and excitement of yesteryear linger around every street corner... every bend in the trail. This is Skagway.
